Dare to Leap—Turning Fear Into Purpose
“Dear Noni… We found a lump in your right breast.”
Nine years ago, I received that letter after my first mammogram. I was 38, shocked, and had only gone for the screening to support a friend recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
For years, I had put everyone else first—growing other people’s programs, volunteering to help their vision, helping build businesses. And just as I was ready to launch my own dreams, I got this news.
After the initial fear and anger, I became determined. I realized life is unpredictable, and your response to uncertainty determines whether you fall or soar.
In my basement, a 4-drawer file cabinet held decades of ideas, manuscripts, and articles. I refused to leave this world with my dreams trapped in that steel box. That was the moment I decided to launch The Diva Movement.
Some people jump, others are pushed—but it doesn’t matter. Dare to pursue your purpose, take that leap, and grow your wings on the way down. Refuse to give up. The only person who can stop you is you.
Fortunately, after additional screenings, my lump was benign. Yet the experience reinforced the importance of regular breast cancer screenings. Early detection saves lives. This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, take a moment to schedule your screening and honor your health.
